His musings tend to be confusing, often running the full length without actually saying anything, and lend to the series' own ambiguous nature. In an early draft of "The Demiurge" and in the end of the episode "Reraizure" these comments are implied to be recordings into his neck microphone. These musings appear to be in the form of soliloquies, but in the episode "The Purge," they are shown to be out loud.
